KRIS & KATHY'S ROLE IN WYCLIFFE
Kris and Kathy Russel have been serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators for the past twenty-seven years. They became Wycliffe members in 1989, and began their field assignment to Papua New Guinea (PNG) in February of 1995, working in the area of Print Media. Kris was the Manager of the Print Media Department. As a graphic artist, Kris was responsible for the layout and design of a variety of printed materials that came out of the PNG branch. Kathy, the other half of the team, did the writing for some of these publications, as well as editing.
They returned to the States from PNG in April, 2004. While in the States, they were involved in Recruitment Ministries from 2004 till July, 2016. During this time their responsibilities with Wycliffe Bible Translators included: Serving as Directors of Sourcing Events. In this role they were responsible for leading a team to help design and facilitate a number of different sourcing (recruitment) events in an effort to raise up “laborers for the harvest”, specifically in the ministry of Bible translation with Wycliffe. They were also Program Coordinators for the Total It Up Course, and the Race to 2025 event, held in various locations in the Pacific Northwest.
Most recently God has opened a new opportunity of service for Kris. He will re-engage in the role he first joined Wycliffe to do, that of a full-time Graphic Artist. Kris has been assigned to work with the Creative Services Dept. for JAARS, the division of Wycliffe that provides technical support for the work of Bible Translation. ONGOING PRAYER NEEDS:
Pray for wisdom and insight for our leaders in Wycliffe Bible Translators as to how we should adjust our strategies to reach the remaining language groups and fulfill Vision 2025 (To see a Bible translation program in progress in every language still needing one by the year 2025.)
Pray for people to respond to God’s Word as they receive it for the first time in their Mother tongue language. That lives would be impacted for the Kingdom of God and people would be set free from the bondage of Satan.
Pray for Kris, now working in his new position as a Graphic Artist for JAARS. Pray for wisdom & creativity in the work. Pray for Kathy as she supports him in this role, and continues to be an advocate for Bible translation ministry.
Please pray for the Lord’s touch in our work with Wycliffe and JAARS. “Unless He builds the house we labor in vain”.
